Emergency Bag

Yesterday, my daughter gave me another scare of my life.  She swallowed a Php10.00 coin and was choking badly.  I tried the Heimlich maneuver with her so she could spit out the coin but to no avail.  Then she vomited all of the food she ate that morning.  I panicked a lot and don’t know what to do so I took her to the hospital without money or anything, wearing my worn-out home clothes.  Good thing my  older sister was at home that day and she was able to grab her purse.

Obviously I wasn’t prepared for an emergency like this.  Who would have?  But for someone who rushed to the emergency room twice because of  life-threatening accidents and consequences I should keep and emergency bag/kit handy.

I rushed my daughter to the hospital two years ago because of an epileptic seizure attack we didn’t know she had.  It was the biggest scare of my life.   This incident would be the second.

Like I was saying its always safe to have an emergency bag you can grab immediately in time of emergency.  Based on experience, your emergency kit should have the following:

  1. Enough cash to get you to the nearest hospital
  2. Credit Card in case you don’t have enough cash to pay your hospital bills
  3. Extra clothes for the child
  4. Extra clothes for you
  5. Face towel or tissues
  6. Candies (in case you get hungry)
  7. Bottled water
  8. Toiletries (soap, toothbrush and toothpaste)
