My boyfriend (yes I have one lolz) was surprised to learn that most houses in the Philippines are made of concrete because the houses in Canada are either made of steel and or wood.
My bf’s sisters home is made of steel, its actually a trailer home and I believe most houses in Nova Scotia Canada are made of such. I’m not really sure. I think its because its good to keep the heat inside since their country is very cold.
I haven’t seen a lot of steel buildings in the country but there are a few at Cam Sur Water Sport facility and also the WhiteHouse which is an events venue.
I really don’t know when concrete houses in the Philippine came to be but not long before it used to be wood and nipa huts and bamboos. Our popular folk song Bahay Kubo is made of bamboo and nipa hut and our national house is made the same.
Ours is a tropical country so as much as possible we want to minimize the heat coming in our homes. We also get a lot of tropical storms and so we need our houses durable.
What do you think makes a better material for home construction? Wood, concrete or steel?
